Description
These homemade fried mozzarella cheese sticks are crispy, cheesy, and perfect for parties or family snacks. With a crunchy golden crust and melty mozzarella center, they’re a crowd-pleaser you can make from scratch with simple ingredients.
Ingredients
12 mozzarella sticks (low-moisture, part-skim)
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
1½ cups seasoned breadcrumbs or panko
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt to taste
Vegetable or canola oil for frying
Instructions
1. Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, tapping off excess.
2. Dip into beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs.
3. Repeat egg and breadcrumb coating for extra crunch.
4. Place coated sticks on a tray and freeze for 1 hour.
5. Heat oil to 350°F in a deep pan.
6. Fry sticks in small batches for 1.5–2 minutes until golden.
7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with dipping sauce.
Notes
Use low-moisture mozzarella only. Fresh mozzarella contains too much water and may leak.
Freeze for at least 1 hour before frying to prevent cheese from melting into oil.
Reheat leftovers in an oven or air fryer to restore crispness.
