Ingredients:
- Eggs: 2 large, beaten
- Water: ¼ cup
- Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs: 1 ½ cups
- Garlic Salt: ½ teaspoon
- All-Purpose Flour: ⅔ cup
- Cornstarch: ⅓ cup
- Frying Oil: 2 cups, or as needed
- Mozzarella Cheese Sticks: 1 package (16 ounces)
Directions:
- Prepare the Coating:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the water and eggs. In a separate medium bowl, combine the bread crumbs and garlic salt. In a third bowl, blend the flour and cornstarch.
- Heat the Oil:
- Pour oil into a large, heavy saucepan and heat it to 365 degrees F (185 degrees C).
- Bread the Cheese:
- Take a mozzarella stick and first dredge it in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Dip it next into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Finally, press it into the bread crumbs to coat evenly. Set the breaded cheese stick aside on a plate or wire rack. Repeat with all cheese sticks.
- Fry the Cheese Sticks:
- Using a spider spoon or tongs, lower 3 to 4 breaded mozzarella sticks into the hot oil. Fry until each stick is golden brown, about 30 seconds. Remove and drain on paper towels. Repeat this step until all cheese sticks are fried.
- Serve Immediately:
- Serve the fried mozzarella sticks hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
